Volunteer Events In New York City: To Lend A Helping Hand!

The holiday season has begun, and that means plenty of opportunities to do community service. There are many places in New York where you can apply as a volunteer. It is up to you if you are going to help families struggling with poverty or people with health issues. If you want to bring warmth to people in need in this cold season, here are some volunteer events in New York City you might like:

The Actors Theatre Workshop Holiday Program

Actors Theatre Workshop (ATW) is a non-profit theatre and educational institution. It was established in 1990 in a studio in Manhattan but soon opened its own theatre complex in Chelsea. ATW reaches out to adults and children of all social groups to give them access to innovative education that will develop their individual potential.

The ATW organizes a holiday program for homeless children. It is a 12-week after-school theatre and education program with a special holiday celebration on December 11th and 12th that will take place in the ATW theatre complex in Chelsea.

The ATW is searching for volunteers for the 12-week classes and the two-day celebrations. Volunteers decide how to help. They can help with the preparation of the menu for the holiday feast or decorate the venue. More information is available on the website of the ATW.

The Bowery Mission

The Bowery Mission has helped millions of homeless and hungry New Yorkers since 1870. It is one of the leading volunteer organizations in New York City. Its volunteers provide compassion, meals, and medical care to people in need. More than 15 000 volunteers join the Bowery Mission family every year to bring hope to people facing brutal poverty.

One of the biggest events the Bowery Mission organizes is the Thanksgiving Day mission. On this day, annually, more than 400 volunteers distribute “blessing bags” with socks, a winter hat, gloves, and hygiene products to people from all parts of the city. Also, a hot meal will be served to all people that come to the Bowery Campus (227 Bowery, between Prince and Rivington Street). If you want to make the Thanksgiving celebration possible for the poorest, apply to volunteer.

God’s Love We Deliver

God’s Love We Deliver is a volunteer organization founded in 1985. Its mission is to improve the quality of life of people struggling with serious illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer. All members cook or deliver nutritious meals and emergency food packages to all people who cannot prepare food on their own.

The organization is seeking volunteers with cars to help with the delivery of holiday meals. They can also take part in the preparation process, but it is not a requirement. More information about the event is available on the website of God’s Love We Deliver.

Everyone must help those in need! If you agree, then these volunteer events in New York are the place for you!

Broadway was always keen to support! These shows pay tribute to those who serve and protect!
